Learn by shipping.

Work alongside the founding engineer on the z0 control plane. This is not a sandbox. You will ship real code, own real projects, and learn how production systems are built.

What you will work on

Real product work, not intern projects.

You will work across the same codebase as the founding engineer. Projects are scoped to match your experience, but the code ships to the same production environment.

01

Go services and APIs

Work on the API layer, background workers, and service internals that keep the control plane running.

02

PostgreSQL and data

Write migrations, queries, and data flows. Learn event sourcing, read models, and tenant-scoped storage patterns.

03

React product surfaces

Build and refine the operator-facing UI: workspace dashboards, agent configuration, usage views, and approval flows.

04

Agent runtime

Help improve sandbox execution, checkpoint recovery, prompt packaging, and retry behavior for running agents.

05

Testing and reliability

Write unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end coverage. Help make the system provably correct.

06

Developer tooling

Improve local development, CI pipelines, deployment scripts, and the tools the team uses every day.

Open roleInternship

Engineering Intern

z0 is building the operating layer for teams that want AI agents to do real work from Slack without giving up control. As an engineering intern, you will pair with the founding engineer and contribute to the same Go services, PostgreSQL schemas, and React surfaces that power the product.

This internship is available for summer or year-round. We care more about what you have built than where you go to school.

Responsibilities

  • Ship real features and fixes that reach production, not toy projects or busywork.
  • Work across the stack: Go backend, PostgreSQL database, and React frontend as needed.
  • Write tests that match the risk level of the code you are changing.
  • Participate in code review and learn from direct feedback on your work.
  • Help improve developer tooling, documentation, and local development workflows.
  • Take ownership of well-scoped projects and see them through to completion.

You might be a fit if

  • You build things on your own time. Side projects, open source, class projects that went beyond the assignment.
  • You are comfortable reading and writing code in at least one of Go, TypeScript, or Python.
  • You have used a relational database and understand basic SQL, schemas, and migrations.
  • You are curious about distributed systems, event-driven architecture, or infrastructure.
  • You prefer learning by doing over learning by watching.
  • You care about the details. Clean code, clear naming, consistent formatting.
